QotD: My Dream Job

How awesome indeed. Space Camp was a very polarizing movie for me. (And not just because Tate Donovan was supposed to be in high school when he was, like, 30.) On the one hand, I would've loved to do something like that, especially really go up in a space shuttled. On the other hand, I am absolutely terrified that I will float out to space. So yeah. If space stations are in our future, I think I might just stay put on Earth.
Oh come on! Where is your sense of adventure? Just imagine the view!

Space Camp

Ha. Surprisingly enough -- well, probably not so surprisingly -- the scene that sticks out the most for me? Yeah, Tate Donovan and Lea Thompson making out on the hood of his Jeep. What can I say? I was 11 years old and was just discovering that boys *didn't* have cooties... Space Camp was followed by Top Gun, and then Dirty Dancing, and yeah. Things just went downhill from there. Ha.

If the odds of actually going into space were any good, I may have followed this path as well. I have always loved astronomy. But it occurred to me that the things I loved most about astronomy could only be experienced by very few, if any, human beings at all. So I opted for a career the has a better chance of at least pretending I am in space: acting. *tee hee* Why do you think I love Stargate as much as I do?
Well I do have to say, Lea Thompson is pretty cute, I can understand why that would stick out to you. ;) Are you sure that boys don't have cooties? Once you hit Dirty Dancing, things could never be the same! But space is still awesome. How is that for a non-sequitur?
Hey, space travel could be a realistic venture in our life time. Not to say that we could go very far, but I will still love to at least get up there.

Heh, I will have to enjoy space by living vicariously through those that can pretend like they are there. ;) If you do a play centered in space, I and definitely there!
Space travel could indeed be in the near future, at least that is what I choose to believe. But the odds of who gets to go... that's another story. That's one reason I like Stargate better than Star Trek: it takes place in present day.... (Now I will go vicariously watch them flit about the galaxy via wormholes, then mourn their eventual demise at the end of this season as the Ori cancel the show after 10 record breaking years!)

I keep getting cast in Sci-Fi flicks that don't get filmed, but I'll let you know if one of them ever takes.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I am still going to keep my fingers crossed about getting into space... a guy can dream, right?

I loved the Stargate movie but missed when the tv show came out and didn't really want to start in the middle of it (which probably was a stupid decision), so now I REALLY need to get them on dvd because the few that I did see, I really liked.

Yes, you definitely should tell me, I would watch it! Just don't do one with Joss Whedon, it would probably be awesome, but it would be canceled...
