To go along with this anniversary, I am also happy to say I had an incredible night/weekend with some amazing people celebrating my and Stacey's 30th birthday. I am supremely blessed to have the wonderful friends I have. Thanks to everyone who made it so special!
We started the night at Anthony's on Pier 66 on Seattle's waterfront then went back to our suite at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel for swimming, eating, and just general enjoyment of each other's company. It was a night to remember! Please stop by Matt and Stacey turn 30! @ Flickr for some pictures from the evening.
Well here I am. Three decades in. I can look back and feel blessed, satisfied, and optimistic. Sure, there are things I wish I could have done differently or wished had turned out differently. But those things have become part of who I am. For instance, I make a pretty awesome third wheel. Life moves forward, I have finally found a career that I enjoy, I have incredible friends that encourage me every day, and wonderful family who blesses me all the time. Pretty freakin’ awesome. I wonder what the next few decades will bring! I am looking forward to it! Maybe a few dates would be nice... ;) And happy mother's day to all the mothers out there!
Well, the big day happened. As of Saturday night at 10:44pm I have entered the last year of my 20s. How old do I feel right now?
I'm still young though, right? RIGHT? Really though, I am feeling pretty good about things. Yeah, I am a little late getting a career started... I am still in grad school... massively in debt... and no dates on the horizon... humm.
I brought in the new year by visiting the family down in southern Washington for a birthday/Mother's day weekend. It was a very relaxing and fun weekend filled with a wonderful family, tasty food, amazing gifts, and, of course, shopping at Powells Books. On Saturday night Erin and I drove down to Portland to see the Lonely Forest play a show, it rocked and I got wished happy birthday from on stage, so that was cool.
All-in-all I am looking forward to this year. I am sure it will be as blessed as all my previous 10595 days have been.
Gifts are still being accepted. ;)

Since today is my birthday I thought that I would start up the (somewhat ambitious) task set out in Project 365: take a picture every single day for a year. My first photo comes from hanging out with middle schoolers. I am a middle school Young Life leader (for those that knew me in high school they might be somewhat surprised by this as I was not a big fan back then... to say the least) so I periodically get to hang out with some crazy 7th graders.
If you want to see an example of what happens when you let them borrow your camera, see my Flickr set Hanging Out With Middle Schoolers.
To keep up with my progress (I won't be posting my daily photos here), you can see my daily snapshots at my Project 365 photo set. I will be contributing to the Project 365 Flickr group along with the Project 365 group @ Vox as well. When the photos are of me, I will also be adding them to the 365 Days Flick group (which are all self portraits).
Wish me luck! Oh, and thanks to K.C. for his amazing birthday card!
